Brooklyn bred rapper Bekay came through http://www.undergroundhiphop.com/ to promote his new album Hunger Pains. Out of nowhere Bekay has come out with one of the hottest LP's of 09. As far as a live performer Bekay is of the same caliber as M.O.P. and Cormega whose recent Boston performances have received stellar reviews by Bostonianz617. Also making an appearance was his DJ- Dutchmaster, the President of Coalmine Records which is the album's label.
Prior to the performance, Bekay and I spoke in depth about his career and his experiences with the artists featured on the album who include R.A. The Rugged Man, Masta Ace, Heltah Skeltah and Dilated Peoples. When you have such a star studded guest list you better have on point production. The beats on Hunger Pains do not miss. From track 1 to 15 the album demonstrates the true form of hip-hop is still practiced.
Of course Bekay himself does not allow the beats to go to waste by showing his rhyming skills are to be reckoned with. If you enjoy original rap, classic samples, DJ cuts and head banging beats than Hunger Pains in the album for you.
